Summer Reading Program on KATC

KATC visited St. Martin Parish Library on Thursday, May 2, 2019 to talk about the upcoming Summer Reading Program “A Universe of Stories.” Newscaster Abby Breidenbach was on site to interview staff, learn about exciting summer activities, and tried on a homemade astronaut helmet. St. Martin Parish President Chester Cedars and Library Director Charlar Brew discussed the importance of summer reading and the role of the library system in the parish. Library programming staff Susan Naquin and Sandra Solomon also talked about the library’s outreach services and the upcoming free activities for all ages this summer.

KATC Interview for National Library Week

In two weeks … libraries across the country will be honored for their role in educating the community.
St. Martin Parish Library wants to make sure you know about the free services they offer throughout the year. All St. Martin Parish branches will celebrate National Library Week April 7-13th.

They plan to increase their presence in the community and remind people of all of the free services and events at the library. They offer e-books and audio books, online computer tutorials, crafts, story times, movies, lectures, book clubs, etc. Outreach and off-site story times for those who cannot visit library.

April is also Fine Free Month. The St. Martin Parish Library will run a month long free campaign to encourage the return of overdue materials to its shelves.

In May they kickoff their Summer 2019 reading program “A Universe of Stories”.Registration for St. Martinville Patrons 2019 Summer Reading Program opens Saturday, May 18th.

An active Facebook page where we interact with the community. And the upcoming summer reading program theme is A Universe of Stories, where we will be offering a variety of space-related activities.All registered participants will need a Summer Reading Booklet and a Reading Log. These items can be picked up at a local branch or can be printed from the website.

St. Martin Parish Public Library Announces Art Display

The St. Martin Parish Library proudly presents the paintings of Shirley Gauthier. The grand opening will be held Saturday, December 16, 2017 from 2:00 p.m.- 5:00 p.m. at the St. Martinville Branch Library, 201 Porter St., St. Martinville, LA. The works will be on display until January 31, 2018.

Mrs. Gauthier is a native of South Louisiana who draws inspirations from her surroundings including the Atchafalaya Basin, New Orleans French Quarter, and the Louisiana Gulf Coast.

Working in oil, acrylic, and watercolor, the artist has earned numerous awards and recognition. Her work hangs in many private and public collections across the United States, Japan and Europe. Gauthier continues her work in her home studio located in St. Martinville, LA.
