Library to open June 1

We are thrilled to announce that St. Martin Parish Library will open on Monday, June 1. Until further notice, hours of operation for all branches are Monday - Friday 8 am to 5 pm and Saturday 8 am to 12 pm. We will observe social distancing guidelines and have limited capacity at each branch. Public computer times will be shorter. Events This Week (May 11 – 15)

The St. Martin Parish Library reopening schedule was announced this week. Staff will return to the library on Monday, May 18 and all branches will be open to the public on Monday, June 1. Any items returned during this time will be quarantined for 72 hours before shelving. Social distancing will be observed, all people entering the library will be required to wear a mask, and only 25% of the building capacity will be allowed in each branch at one time according to recommendations by the state fire marshal. Reopening scheduled for St. Martin Parish Library

In accordance with guidelines set by the governor’s office, St. Martin Parish Library announces its schedule for phased reopening. During Phase 1, library staff will return to all library branches on Monday, May 18. During this time period, staff will be available via phone to answer questions, and work to clean and sanitize all materials and surfaces in the library. All materials returned with be quarantined for 72 hours before returning to circulation. Phase 2 will begin on Monday, June 1. At this time, all library branches will be open to the public. However, each library branch will limit capacity to 25{9a1ffb6d60b03d13a2f56f61b4366385ef200cc5633dd1761acfbadc567f83eb} of the building capacity set by the fire marshal. Meeting spaces and study rooms will remain closed to the public at this time. Additionally, all people entering library buildings will be required to wear a mask.

The Summer Reading Program will run from June 15 to July 25. It will combine in-person and virtual activities. Take-home crafts will be available throughout the reading program. Live performances will be replaced with dynamic online events. Registration will be announced soon.

As a reminder, all of the digital resources on the library website are available to library cardholders even when the library is closed. Free resources include ebooks, live tutoring, research/homework help, a craft and hobby database, computer tutorials, Ancestry, and more.

As National Library Week approaches, the staff at St. Martin Parish Library wishes for the health and safety of everyone in our community. We understand we cannot offer the same services that our patrons have come to expect and rely on, but we are still here and will do what we can to be a bright spot during a difficult time.
