2nd annual “Lawyers in Libraries” program to be held Oct. 29

St. Martin Parish Library Partners with La. State Bar Association and La. Library Association to Host Legal Advice Program on Oct. 29  The St. Martin Parish Library, in partnership with the Louisiana State Bar Association (LSBA) and the Louisiana Library Association (LLA), is presenting its second annual “Lawyers in Libraries” statewide program on Thursday, Oct. 29. Library Card Sign up Month winners announced

The month of September was “Library Card Sign up Month”. This year, a grand total of 75 students signed up for their very first library cards during September’s library card drive. Out of these 75 students, Cecilia Primary had the largest percentage of their students (5%) sign up for a library card. For this achievement, Cecilia Primary school library was awarded a $50 travelers check. In addition, student names were randomly drawn for prizes. The Open House hosted by the Friends of the St. Martin Public Library was a great success!!! GuteKunst Collection: Preserving Louisiana’s Past

St. Martin Parish Library is working to preserve, catalog and make available a collection of survey maps and plats of Southwest Louisiana. Charles and Octave GuteKunst worked as Parish Surveyors and local land agents for over seventy years. Their maps cover St. Martin Parish and various lands west of the Mississippi River. The surveyors were known for their knowledge of the Atchafalaya Basin.
