Library Card Sign-Up Month 2020

September is Library Card Sign-up Month, a time when St. Martin Parish Library joins the American Library Association and libraries nationwide to remind parents, caregivers, and students that signing up for a library card is the first step on the path to academic achievement and lifelong learning.

Having a library card is empowering. Through access to technology and a variety of educational resources, a library card gives students the tools to succeed in the classroom and provides people of all ages opportunities to pursue their dreams and passions.

St. Martin Parish Library continues to adapt services to meet the evolving needs of our community. Library card policies have been expanded to increase community access to in-library and digital resources. The minimum age to obtain a library card has been lowered to age 4, allowing for all school-age children to check out library materials and access online resources.

The library continues to offer traditional library cards and has also added a new digital-only card available to all ages. This card will allow patrons to access all online resources via the library website as well as public computers at each library branch. Patrons with outstanding fines on their accounts may still apply for a digital-only card. Patrons may apply for a digital-only card on the library website at www.stmartinparishlibrary.org or by calling their local branch.

Join this year’s Honorary Chair, Wonder Woman, as she embarks on a mission to champion the power of a library card, promotes the value of libraries, and encourages St. Martin Parish residents to sign up for a library card.
