St. Martin Parish Library Announces Food for Fines Drive

St. Martin Parish Library will collaborate with Second Harvest Food Bank to help fight hunger this holiday season. The library is hosting a Food for Fines Drive from November 1 through December 30, 2019. The goal of the food drive is to collect food during the holiday season, raise awareness of hunger prevention, and bring community members together.

Food collection bins provided by Second Harvest Food Bank will be available at all St. Martin Parish Library branches. Donations may be brought to any library branch during regular hours of operation. All donations during this food drive will supply local food pantries in St. Martin Parish.

Overdue fines may be waived with each food donation. A single food item equals $1 and each library card holder may have up to $10 waived during the Food for Fines Drive. Only overdue fines will be waived, not replacement card fees or lost item fees.

Each year through Food and Fund Drive efforts, more than 500 organizations help to raise one million meals for community members across south Louisiana. With the community's help, St. Martin Parish Library hopes to add to that total this season. Please consider donating to this drive even if you don't have library fines.
