Little Free Libraries

St. Martin Parish Library recently installed two Little Free Libraries in the community. The Little Free Library movement started in 2010 by Todd Bol and Rick Brooks. The American Library Association partnered with this effort that has as its mission to promote literacy and the love of reading by building a sense of community through free book exchange. The motto is “Take a book, return a book.” To date there are 14,000 little libraries worldwide.

Sponsored by the St. Martin Parish Library, one little free library is located at 911 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive.  This is the residence of the late Mrs. Louise Washington.  Debra W. Landry is the steward and neighbor June Louviere will assist. The other little free library is located at 309 Main Street. The stewards of this little free library are Glenn Hebert and Chad Horton.

We strongly encourage citizens of our parish to visit the Little Free Library closest to you.

“Take a book, Return a Book.”
